Grey: The New Black

This card is my entry for the Grey is the New Black challenge on Moxie Fab World (http://www.moxiefabworld.com/2011/01/gray-is-new-black-challenge.html). And the layout was inspired by my Kleenex box, of all things as well as the At Home With Lisa Johnson post on Moxie Fab on Jan. 20th. You should hop on over and check it out.

The colors I used were all Stampin' Up!: going grey, basic grey, rose red, certainly celery, old olive, and tempting turquiose. The sentiment is part of the Circular Sayings set bt Verve. And some silver cord completed the design.

Happy Monday,
Bethany

Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge

Happy Thursday!

This bright card is based on this week's Waltzingmouse Sketch Challange (WMSC30). I absolutely love this sketch!!!! You should pop over to their website (by clicking on the picture of the sketch above) and see the great example cards that the designers made; they are absolutely gorgeous!!! I kept my interpretation pretty straightforward and used a set of retired design paper from Stampin' Up! that I like because of its rather unique look with its vintage designs and bold colors. My base cardstock is Rose Red from SU. The sentiment is again from Verve's Circular Sayings set; as you may have noticed, its my current go-to sentiment set. I love the script that Julie chose for it. And that's basically it; simple right?

Thanks for the great sketch Claire!

OWH and the Mysterious 34

Operation Write Home's Stars & Stamps blog is celebrating one full year of sketches! They have collected last years sketches and put them on one page for our convenience. Apparently sketch 34 was thought to have never been posted so it was posted this week along with a new sketch (52) and thats what I based this card on. I never get tired of the pink and brown color combo, how about you? The felt flower and dsp are from last spring's Sweet Pea line by SU. The sentiment is part of the Circular Sayings set by Verve stamps.
That's all for today. Thanks for stoping by!

Winter Hat Joy

For this card I combined two challenges again. The colors came from Curtain Call 65 on Stacy's Stamping Stage and the sketch (OWH52) is from Operation Write Home's Stars & Stamps blog . The colors really made for a fun winter card. I used an older SU set called Merry for the hat and sentiment and a snowflake printed window sheet on top of the Pacific Point cardstock. The finishing touch was some liquid applique' that I heat embossed to make it puff up. That is my favorite product to use on winter cards :)
Check back in a little while for a second post (can you believe it!)

Smile - It's Tuesday Trigger

As soon as I saw this weeks Tuesday Trigger picture on Moxie Fab World, I knew just how I wanted to interpret it.

I went with a white background because of the white walls and did a string of bright circles in a curvy line because of the garland. I threw a silver brad in the mix for dimension and because of the light fixture. Every time I looked at this picture it made me smile, so I chose to use that word for my sentiment :) This was a great picture to play with this week. Thanks Cath!

Winter Fun

This fun card was created for 2 different challenges. Viva la Verve (VLVJAN2011) provided the sketch and Pals Paper Arts (PPA76) the color scheme. The mittens are an SU stamp from the Merry set, and the sentiment is from their So Very set. I added a bit of silver glitter glue to the mittens for a finishing touch.
Thanks for stoping by :)

Viva la Verve sketch

Hi everyone! I have been doing so much blog surfing that I haven't taken much time to create. I put this together last night while waiting for the Verve release party to get under way on Splitcoast. What fun that was :) It was my first time live in the chat room and boy was it hard to keep up with all the comments and reveals, but very fun!

For this card I followed week 1's sketch for Viva la Verve (VLVJanuary2011) and used vanilla card stock as my base and dp from the Flower Shower spring stack by DCWV. The sentiment is from Verve's Big Wish set and I punched it out with Stampin' Up's Decorative Label punch. Then I just sponged the edges of the label, added some ribbon and brads to finish it off. This was a fun sketch to work with :) Thanks Divas.
